For most of the new users of computer, this term Remote Desktop Administration should be Greek or Roman but knowing it can solve many issues without much or no technical skills at all. Let's come to the point,
What is remote desktop administration?
A simple way where someone else can see or control your computer by using the Internet or the local network. Many times you may have asked your friends for help, they might have already helped you or least tried to help but they had a bottleneck of not being able to see what you are doing with your computer hence their efforts may have gone wasted or you end up with a solution which wasn't really helpful or it wasn't what you expected. In such case using the Remote Desktop Connection is extremely handy.
All you need to do is go to My Computer(Windows XP) or Computer(Windows Vista), right click on it and select Properties in the pop-up menu. In the new small window which opens, click on Remote tab which is located above and check mark the box which says "Allow Users to connect remotely to this computer", click on Apply and Ok.
Give your IP address to the friend who wants to help you and yes it will ask for the Login ID and Password of your computer which you need to give provided the person is trustworthy. The other user will be able to connect to your computer remotely and do the changes as required. Unfortunately you will be logged off from the computer so you will need an alternate communication medium ready for this. If you want to work together you can go ahead with many sites which share the desktop like skyfex or crossloop. Some may have something like a demo or trial system where you will have limited or no remote administration so check whatever you will be using.
Before I end up this session, try the same with MSN Messenger. It can be a bit handy.
Have Fun and keep visiting.
